Trying Corel Painter X Again

Trying something new again. I have had Corel Painter X for a few months now and I really haven't worked very hard at understanding the program. Photography School House had a Webinar tonight on Painter so I signed up. Picked up a few tricks and think I learned enough that it will not be long before I will be able to use the program.

I have only tried it on portraits in the past so I decided to see what I could do with a landscape. This is a shot I did on the NWHPC field trip to the Brenham area for bluebonnets. I didn't do many bluebonnets but I loved this big tree with the bluebonnets in front so I chose it for my first Painter landscape. I used the Impressionist pallet and on the whole I am pleased with the image. If I do not do one better in the next week I will have a 9 x 12 canvas done at Mpix to enter in the Out of the Box category in the June competition.

Painter is a very versatile program but it is a little like a high power imaging program, there are so many choices on how to work that it becomes very complicated. I was encouraged watching the Webinar tonight that I will be able to learn the program well enough to turn out simple but satisfactory work.
