WAR/PHOTOGRAPHY Images of Armed Conflict and Its Aftermath at the MFA

Went to WAR/PHOTOGRAPHY: Images of Armed Conflict and Its Aftermath at the MFA today. If you are interested in things military, in war photography it is an outstanding show. I was thinking of putting it up as a meet up but I don't know if I could spend another four hours—it's a big show. There is work from all the great war photographers, Robert Capa, David Douglas Duncan, W Eugene Smith, Joe Rosenthal, Larry Burrows, Nick Ut and scattered Henri Cartier-Bresson, Dorthea Lange, Edward Steichen. Found one Len Chetwin without explanation and the complete Larry Burrows Vietnam photo-essay on Yankee Papa 13 which is really powerful photojournalism. Most all of the famous war photographs are there. Some of the photographs have very interesting stories which they unfortunately don't cover but there is information on some of the lesser known photographs. Some of it is a little gruesome. Just give yourself lots of time. I'm a little hacked because I forgot that the W Eugene Smith and Jim Natchwey exhibit is already up and I missed it. I was so tired that I propbably needed to go home anyway. Well, there's next Thursday.
This was free day at the MFA and Veterans get into the War/Photography exhibit free but it cost me $40 to get out. The exit leads directly into a book store of all photography books. I picked up Photography The Whole Story that I have been coveting.
