Not sure how many times I have photographed at The Lights in the Heights but I don't think I enjoyed any of them more than last night. NWHPC set it up as a meet up. Alcy and I got to the Heights around 3pm or earlier. Did a little walking around doing photos then sit at a coffee shop on W19th and discussed the book I had picked up a the museum. Finaly around 4:30 we drove over and got a parking spot only one block off the last barricaded street. Walked over to Big Mamou and sit on the porch drinking cafe au lait (what ever that is) watching the crowds gather. We started out somewhat before 6 to catch some of the blue hour. Didn't see anyone else from NWHPC except for Joe and Deloris Parks. We walked around and shot together until almost 9. I decided that I would come back and shoot the "lights" later because I was having too much fun shooting the crowds. I don't know if I succeeded but I wanted to see if I could capture the color and festivity of the evening and give an impression of the huge number of people that were there. I know at least one NWHPC member that finally gave up on parking and skipped the shoot. As we were leaving we noticed that streets seven or eight blocks from the festival were lined with cars. Wow, a to and from plus walking the full festival, even the thought wears me out. There is a lot and I mean a lot of walking involved so I was pretty tuckered out when I got home as it was. Still I stayed up past 2am doing processing and posting to the club web site.
