A Trip: Archer City, Texas

Leaving Wichita Falls the first stop was Archer City. Paul is familiar with the novels of Larry McMurty; Archer City is McMurtry’s home town. It is also the location where McMurtry’s The Last Picture Show was filmed. I had stopped there back in June to photograph the old theatre that played a major role in The Last Picture Show. I do not know if Paul photographed the theatre this time or not, I didn’t. I noticed a gentleman photographing at the courthouse, we introduced ourselves and had a great conversation about traveling around Texas to photograph. Paul ran into a former County Commissioner that has just arrived back in Archer City from following the wheat harvest. We grabbed a cold drink at the Wildcat Café then headed south.
