Curiosity

During the shoot at the antique store on FM 2920 I found this interesting figurine. Someone had placed a very small boxing glove, possibly made for a doll or a very small child, on the out stretched arm. It is difficult to imagine that this was not done as a statement of some sort. I supposed it is possible that someone just thought it was humorous but regardless it is interesting to contemplate the statement that has been made by brining two such incongruous objects together. I really don’t anticipate much in the way of responses but it would be interesting to know how others see this pairing. Do you see it as a negative or a positive statement? Do you agree or disagree with the statement that you feel has been made? True, I expect few if any to share their thoughts so maybe just thinking about the statement you see will suffice.
Eli Siegel asks, "Is beauty the making one of opposites?" Is this in some way the making one of opposites. If so it is beauty? Is it art?  Or is it simply Teddy Roosevelt's, "Speak softly and carry a big stick."?
