Freaky Toys and Other Things

NWHPC had their annual Houston Rodeo Parade photoshoot so I should be posting photos from the parade. I’m just not much of a parade photographer so I didn’t get very many good shots and couldn’t get real interested in processing them. I probably will tomorrow and post a few but for now I’m working on photos that are more fun.

Some months ago Debi, Alcy and I were at the Texas Antique Center. Generally that is a great place for photography but that day I couldn’t find anything that interested me. Generally at the Antique Center I look for religious artifacts but they were few and far between. It was almost closing time and I needed something so I decided to do toys. Antique stores always have toys and for the most part they are just a little freaky. I grabbed a few and like all themes I still shoot freaky toys in antique stores. Well, today after the rodeo parade Alcy and I looked up the Texas Art Asylum. I think I found the mother lode of freaky toys. I have a feeling I will be going back fairly often.

This was the first shot, just inside the door. I think, personally, that it is the most interesting photograph that I did all day. You wana play?

The Art Asylum accepts donations which they sell to artists for found art projects. It is an interesting concept and a darn interesting place because they have a little of any and everything your can imagine.
