Color in Motion

Debi Beauregard invited me to join her to photograph the Color in Motion 5K charity run at Reliant Park. It meant getting to Denny's for breakfast at 6:45am and after an early day yesterday with Alcy I almost said no. Sure glad I didn't.

Houston seems to have a 'run' almost every weekend. I always intend to go photograph but never do. The club photographed the Houston Marathon two or three weeks ago. I was still trying to get over the flu, it was cold and rain was forecast so I had breakfast and then went home. They posted some very nice photographs so I was inspired to give it a try. The big difference between the marathon and Color in Motion is that during Color, the runners are doused with a brightly colored powder. And as I discovered after the run there is a lot left over that everyone throws at each other.

I took several hundred photos and have process only a small portion so there may be additional postings.

We did a few photographs around the staging area and then headed over to the first of the colored powder stations. I have not finished processing the photos from that area yet. I did grab a couple taken after the finish of the run just to see how they looked. It's always fun when adults get to act like the kids.

Debi's photos are posted to http://www.flickr.com/photos/17798383@N07/

One of the team that was to throw the colored powder. They did a good deal of practicing on each other before the runners arrived

After the run had finished the runners got to play in the powder that had not been used.
