The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir

What a photoshoot. I didn’t get a single photograph that really captures the remarkable beauty of the building but I am inspired to go back again for another attempt. NWHPC scheduled the late evening/sunset photoshoot at the Hindu Mandir in Stafford. This is a most remarkable building.

The mandir was carved in India from 33,000 pieces of marble and limestone. The carved stones were shipped to Houston and assembled in 16 months by volunteers. That alone would be remarkable but you really have to see it to fully comprehend the beauty and delicacy of the carvings.

Unfortunately there were problems with the exterior lighting so the building was not lit as it usually is after dark. I do want to go back for another evening shoot when the lights are repaired. I also want to be there for sunrise when the front of the mandir will not be in shadow.
