Another Saturday Night...

“Another Saturday night in another cheap gin joint in another two bit town. The blond sitting at the corner table was wearing red…” a flashback to adolescence when dime novels were called dime novels because they actually cost a dime for the whole thing. Spillane always italicized the good parts and teenagers only read it if it was italicized. Who needed a plot when we were adolescent boys and we could make up one every bit as good if not better than Mickey’s. There were always words like voluptuous and heaving and stomachs were bellies and they always got exposed. Who cared what Hammer did between the italicized parts.
